IPU/IPU+

Series IPU current transformers with integrated transducers

For more than 30 years REDUR has been manufacturing the IPU/IPU+ current transformers with a built-in transducer for sinusoidal alternating currents from 30 A to 1,500 A. They output either a current or a voltage. Combining a current transformer and transducer in one device saves valuable space in your system. All series of our current transformers can continuously transmit currents up to 1.2 x IN without thermal overload. The input value is galvanically separated (5kV/1 min), rectified (mean value) and transformed into a proportional impressed direct current or direct voltage.

Our current transformers with a built-in transducer are available in three different series. Each series features its own specific properties.

Current transformers with an integrated transducer from REDUR offer many advantages:

  •  Saves space (only one device)
  •  High accuracy classes
  •  Large primary current range (10 A / 30 A ...1,500 A)
  •  Flexible input frequencies in range from 45 Hz ...65 Hz

Products of the IPU series

The IPU series requires no additional auxiliary power. They are suitable for primary currents from 30 A to 1500 A and frequencies from 45 Hz to 55 Hz or 55 Hz to 65 Hz.

The current transformers deliver an output signal from 0 mA to 20 mA or 0 V to 10 V. There is no output current limitation, although the voltage is limited to 18 V. The use can choose from accuracy classes 1, 0.5 or 0.2.

The first digital current transformer: IPU+

The IPU+ current transformer with a built-in transducer is the first transformer that in addition to our forerunner IPU delivers digital signals (Modbus) and, optionally, features Bluetooth/wireless transmission. Our IPU+ is suitable for direct and alternating currents from 0 Hz to 400 Hz. It combines three devices in one: current transformer, transducer and converter (analogue to digital signal). This saves even more valuable space in your system.

But the IPU+ offers even more advantages compared to analogue transformers:

  • Higher measuring frequencies
  • Five times higher transmission speed (output time 20 ms)
  • Higher precision and maintenance friendliness

Our IPUL series with auxiliary voltage

The IPUL series was developed for primary currents from 10 A to 1500 A and frequencies from 45 Hz to 65 Hz. Our transducers of the IPUL series are active and operate with a broad auxiliary voltage range.

Due to the auxiliary voltage you can choose between the following output signals: 0 mA – 20 mA or 4 mA – 20 mA and 0 V – 10 V or 2 V – 10 V. The current is limited to 22.5 mA, and the voltage to 18 V. We offer accuracy classes of 0.5 or 0.2.

Our IPULL series with two-wire technology

The transformers of the IPULL series are equipped with two-wire technology and, like our IPUL model, can transmit rated currents from 10 A to 1500 A. In this model the device generates the auxiliary voltage needed for the offset of the output signal from the secondary measuring circuit.

Current transformers of the IPULL series can process input frequencies from 45 Hz to 65 Hz. The output signal is 4 mA to 20 mA with a current limitation of 22.5 mA. You can choose between an accuracy class of 0.5 or 0.2.
